Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the Glacier Jewish Community meet?

We meet everywhere! The Glacier Jewish Community/B’nai Shalom is a congregation-without-walls. For large gatherings such as the High Holy Days or holiday parties we rent space in hotels or restaurants. For other gatherings such as monthly Shabbat services and other events, we meet in our congregants’ homes. We also join each other at worksites to volunteer, pubs to socialize and mountains to climb and enjoy nature together.

How do I make an appointment to see the Rabbi?

Please email Rabbi Francine Roston directly! Rabbi Francine is always happy to meet people new to the area and help you find others who share your interests. Rabbi Francine is an experienced pastor and teacher who counsels people and engages students who are interested in learning how to read Hebrew, prepare for conversion to Judaism or prepare for Bar/Bat Mitzvah (at any age!)

How do I make a donation?

Click here to support Glacier Jewish Community/B’nai Shalom. If you would like to send a check, rather than submit payment online, it can be sent to our office at 591 Hilltop Court, Whitefish, MT 59937. Please include a note about your donation and how we can contact you to say thank you.

What should I do if I am sick and need help?

Please let us know if you are ill and need any kind of assistance. Please contact us and we’ll set you up with all the right people to help you feel supported.

What should I do if I have a death in the family?

A death in the family can be a very difficult experience to navigate. We are here to help you through the grieving process and offer you the comfort of Jewish mourning rituals and the support of a loving community. Please inform Rabbi Francine about your loss. Either she or a member of our Steering Committee will contact you as soon as possible. We are available to support members of the community by providing a shivah minyan as well as friendly visits. Please do not hesitate to let us know so we can help you through the grieving process.

Will your rabbi officiate at “destination weddings” in Montana?

Rabbi Francine enjoys meeting young couples who are planning a Jewish wedding and a Jewish life together. Feel free to contact her to set up a Skype appointment to see if she will be able to preside over your wedding and help you consecrate your relationship with Jewish tradition, love and laughter.
